Processes and Procedures Ordinance (Ordinance No. 187,712)

Dear Interested Parties,
The Processes and Procedures Ordinance (Ordinance No. 187,712) has been in operation since January 22, 2024. The ordinance comprehensively reorganized the administrative provisions related to zoning and land use entitlements of Chapter 1 of the Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) and established a new central home in Chapter 1A of the LAMC.
Over the past several months, Los Angeles City Planning has identified the need to address technical corrections and clarifications in implementing the new processes and procedures, such as correction of typographical and other inadvertent errors, as well as clarifications to help improve readability. On April 11, 2024, the Director of Planning initiated the Processes and Procedures Maintenance Ordinance (Maintenance Ordinance) to address those technical corrections and clarifications, Planning Case No. CPC-2016-3182-CA-AMDT3 and ENV-2024-2777-CE. The draft Maintenance Ordinance is now available for the public to review and comment. For more information on the proposed changes, please review the Processes and Procedures Maintenance Ordinance Fact Sheet.
The proposed maintenance amendments are technical in nature and do not include any policy changes. Regular maintenance of the administrative processes and procedures is expected to occur on a bi-annual basis to ensure the Zoning Code continues to respond to the needs of the City, while remaining modern and easy to understand.
LA City Planning staff will host a virtual informational webinar on June 6, 2024, which will include time set aside for Q and A to answer questions that the public may have regarding the proposed Maintenance Ordinance. Details regarding how to attend are available here – Virtual Informational Webinar. A public comment period will also be open through June 21, 2024. Comments received will help inform the staff report that will be submitted to the City Planning Commission prior to its consideration of the proposed Maintenance Ordinance.
If you would like to submit comments or be added to the interested parties list, please contact Terri Osborne at terri.osborne@lacity.org.
Thank you for your continued interest.
