Motions (March 27, 2020)

The following Council Motions were introduced during today’s City Council meeting. The listed motions govern ALL SUBJECT MATTERS OF COUNCIL not only land use. Council file numbers have not been assigned at this time and are currently being processed.View City Council.

View City Council Motions (March 27, 2010) (Land Use Policy:  

  • OPPOSITION to the Environmental Protection Agency’s relaxation of environmental rules in response to the COVID-19 pandemic since this move would negatively impact the health and welfare of the AmericanQ people and the environment.
  • Implement the Restaurant Beverage Program as instructed by Council on August 14, 2018, to be made retroactive to include any pending applications for conditional use permits where the applicant accepts the standard conditions of Restaurant Beverage Program.
  • Waive public hearings during the duration of the COVID-19 crisis only for existing restaurants and bars that have sunset clauses in their existing Conditional Use Permits (CUPs) for the serving of alcohol, and that are seeking renewal of those CUPs provided they are: (1) not seeking substantial modifications to their ‘Conditions of Approval’ and, (2) provide the Planning Department a ‘Letter of Non-opposition’ from the Police Department, given the uncertainty of not having regularly scheduled land use planning hearings.
  • Exception that no appeal fee shall be required to request an extension of time on an order issued by the Department of Building and Safety, with a sunset date of September 24th, 2020.
  • Bureau of Engineering be directed to issue revocable permits, subject to the applicants satisfying the conditions for issuing such permits, to close, gate, occupy, and construct permanent structures within the existing public rights-of-way.
  • Temporarily waive the Code Violation Inspection Fee (CVIF) and extend the Non-Compliance Fee (NCF) payment deadline from 30 days to 90 days from the invoice print date, with a sunset date of September 24th, 2020
  • Department of Building and Safety to relax quality of life and vegetation related code enforcement activities (other than fire-prevention brush clearance requirements).
