A motion was adopted by City Council instructing  instructing the Planning Department, with the assistance of  the Department of Recreation and Parks, and in consultation with the City Attorney, to prepare an ordinance to make the necessary clarifications and / or amendments to the Open Space (OS) zoning  designation so that all parks and  recreation areas have the same planning and zoning protections, etc.  It was stated in the  motion that  throughout the city, private entities are developing more and more parks and recreation spaces, and in order to  promote the creation of parks and open space, it is imperative that the city take the necessary actions to amend the  Municipal code to ensure that all open spaces and parks are fully protected, even when privately owned and operated.
